Remove PDF pages

Decide whether to remove or extract pages

Removing pages creates a new PDF from everything you keep. It works well when a document only contains a few unwanted pages: a blank scan, an outdated appendix, duplicate sheets, or internal notes that should not be in the copy you share.

Extract pages instead when you only need a small part of a much larger document. The two methods can produce the same page set, but choosing the shorter selection reduces mistakes.

Remove PDF pages in your browser

  1. Choose one PDF.Wait while the browser prepares the page previews.
  2. Mark each unwanted page.A redline identifies pages that will be left out.
  3. Use Invert selection when helpful. This swaps every kept and removed page in one action.
  4. Read the keep/remove ledger.Confirm the output count before processing.
  5. Select Remove pages and download. The unmarked pages become one PDF in their original order.

At least one page must remain. The button stays unavailable when no page is marked or when the selection would create an empty document.

Check the visual selection before processing

PDF page numbers count physical pages from the beginning. A number printed in a footer may differ when a cover, contents page, or Roman numeral section appears first. Use the thumbnail label rather than the number printed inside the document.

The ledger shows both sides of the operation: how many pages the new PDF keeps and how many it removes. When most pages should be removed, first mark the smaller set you want to keep and then invert the selection.

Understand quality and document-level features

The tool copies PDF pages rather than rendering screenshots. Page dimensions, rotation, vector artwork, text, and image quality are retained. The result is a new document, while the source file stays untouched on your device.

Document-level bookmarks, attachments, scripts, and other advanced features may not carry into the new file. Editing a digitally signed PDF normally invalidates its signature, even when its visible kept pages look unchanged.

Do not confuse page removal with secure redaction

Dismerge PDF processes the file in your browser and has no document upload endpoint. PDF.js creates previews and pdf-lib copies the kept pages inside a browser worker. The downloaded result is represented by a temporary local browser URL until you reset the tool or close the page.

Whole removed pages are absent from the new page tree, but this tool does not audit metadata, comments, attachments, form values, hidden layers, or previously redacted content. Use a purpose-built, verified redaction process when disclosure could cause harm.
